Japanese auto firm eyes India JV

With a keen eye on global expansion, Japan’s leading auto components company, Japan Automatic Machine (JAM), has expressed an interest in entering into a joint venture in India.

JAM has recorded business of around $150 billion worldwide and plans to grow rapidly, but needs logistics support to meet overseas demand.

Speaking at the ongoing Auto Expo in New Delhi, JAM chief executive Masafumi Mizuno said: “We are now looking for a major joint venture project and have already initiated the process of discussions for this purpose.”

Mizuno said the company, which set up an India office in September last year, has already identified sites for two units, one in Manesar in Haryana and a second unit to be set up near Bengaluru in Karnataka.
